Ø  Vedic studies

This activity aims to preserve, protect and propagate Vedic studies by conducting classes to teach the Vedas, the holy texts of Hinduism.

The Vedas are considered the earliest literary record of Indo-Aryan civilization, and the most sacred books of India.  They are the original scriptures of Hindu teachings and contain the spiritual knowledge encompassing all aspects of our life.  Vedic literature with its philosophical maxims has stood the test of time and is the highest religious authority for all sections of Hindus in particular and for mankind in general.

Although the Vedas are seldom read or understood in our days, even by the devout, they no doubt form the bedrock of the universal religion Sanatana Dharma that all Hindus follow.  The Vedas have guided our religious direction for ages and will continue to do so for generations to come.

Three classes are conducted weekly over the telephone on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to teach the Vedas to aspiring students.  Each class is for one hour duration.

Ø  4000 Divya Prabhandham studies

This activity aims to preserve, protect and propagate 4000 Divya Prabhandham studies by offering educational classes to aspiring students with well qualified 4000 Divya Prabhandham teachers.

Three classes are conducted weekly over the telephone on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays to teach 4000 Divya Prabhandham.  Each class is for one hour duration.  During the classes we teach the Nalayira Divya Prabhandham, a collection of 4000 Tamil verses.

Ø Sri Desika Stotra Padam

The purpose of this activity is to teach Sri Desika Stotrams by offering educational classes to aspiring students with well qualitfied Srivaishnava scholars. During the classes we teach the Sri Desika Stotrani, a collection of stotrams by Sriman Nigamantha Maha Desikan.

Weekly one class is conducted over the telephone on Sundays.

Ø  Daily spiritual practice

The purpose of this activity is to teach the daily spiritual practice of followers of Srivaishnava school of thought within Hinduism to aspiring students with well qualified Srivaishnava scholars.

As per the Hindu scriptures, a Srivaishnava (i.e., a follower of Srivaishnava school of thought of Hinduism) needs to follow certain religious rituals and practices daily.  Right from the time one gets up from the bed till one completes the day's activities and retires to bed, there are detailed spiritual activities one has to perform. This class intends to teach those religious practices to participants.

Weekly one class is conducted over the telephone on Saturdays.

Ø  Religious discourse

The purpose of the activity is to organize religious discourses by Vedic scholars to make an avenue for the interested devotees to listen to the glories of Lord Narayana as depicted in various Hindu scriptures.  The activity is held over the telephone once a week on Saturdays.

Ø  Development of educational materials

The organization will be publishing books and creating DVDs and CDs to support the mission of the organization.  All copyrights for the published and developed materials will be owned by Veda Dharma Samrakshana Sabha.
